Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in the effectiveness of oxytocin massage education between face-to-face and digital methods on the breastfeeding effectiveness of mothers at Rumkital Dr. R. Oetojo, Sorong City. The background of this study stems from the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for infants; however, the success rate of effective breastfeeding remains relatively low due to mothers’ limited knowledge and skills in breastfeeding practices. Education about oxytocin massage is believed to stimulate the production of the oxytocin hormone, which plays a crucial role in the milk ejection process.

The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a post-test control group approach. A total of 30 postpartum mothers participated as respondents and were divided into two groups: 15 mothers received education through the face-to-face method, while the other 15 received it through a digital approach. The research instrument was a questionnaire used to measure the level of breastfeeding effectiveness, and the data were analyzed using the independent t-test.

The results showed a significant difference between the two groups. Oxytocin massage education delivered through face-to-face sessions was proven to be more effective than the digital method in improving mothers’ breastfeeding effectiveness.

Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the face-to-face approach is more recommended for conducting oxytocin massage education to enhance the success of breastfeeding. Therefore, health workers are advised to prioritize face-to-face methods when providing education to breastfeeding mothers.
